Business Operations & Growth Coordinator (On-site)
Job Description
This is Data SEA's first dedicated non-billable hire—and it's one of the most important additions we'll make to the team. We're looking for someone who is exceptionally sharp, organized, and outgoing to serve as the operational engine behind our sales, marketing, recruiting, and internal operations. You'll work directly with both Partners and our CTO, freeing them to focus on clients and strategy while you drive the infrastructure that makes everything run.
Beyond the day-to-day, we want this person to be the beating heart of Data SEA—the force multiplier who amplifies the work of every consultant and partner, makes Data SEA a more attractive place to work, and helps us build an exceptional culture as we scale.
Responsibilities will include
Sales & Business Development
Plan, coordinate, and execute business development events including CEO dinners, CTO conferences, and industry networking nights, managing all logistics from venue selection to food and beverage.
Serve as the on-the-ground point person at events—tracking attendance, facilitating introductions, taking notes on key conversations, and identifying follow-up opportunities.
Drive the post-event sales cycle by researching prospects, determining outreach strategies, and crafting tailored cold emails for Partners and the CTO to send.
Create and customize sales presentation decks, tailoring messaging and visuals for each prospective client.
Help prepare the team for sales presentations including research, talking points, and rehearsal coordination.
Support client onboarding into Data SEA's systems and workflows, and coordinate legal contracts and engagement frameworks.
Help draft proposals and statements of work (SOWs) alongside the Partners, CTO, and project teams, ensuring deliverables, timelines, and pricing are clearly articulated and professionally presented.
Marketing & Content
Manage Data SEA's LinkedIn presence, including scheduling and publishing posts for the company page and coordinating thought leadership content for the Partners and CTO.
Coordinate the creation of blog posts and case study write-ups by working with consultants and project teams to capture key outcomes, client impact, and lessons learned for publication on the website.
Client Relationship Management
Help the Partners and CTO schedule and coordinate post-engagement check-ins with clients to maintain relationships, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for follow-on work.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
Lead the planning and organization of recruiting events with university partners (University of Waterloo, Queen's University, Western University, University of Toronto), including budgeting, sponsorship payments, and food and beverage coordination.
Coordinate which Data SEA team members will attend each recruiting event and ensure presentation materials are prepared and on-brand.
Manage the end-to-end recruiting pipeline: gathering resumes, organizing candidate files, and leading first-round screening through interviews or by coordinating with the appropriate team members.
Own IT onboarding for new hires and co-op students, ensuring they are set up with the tools, access, and resources they need from day one.
Operations, Administration & Culture
Provide back-office and administrative support to the Partners and CTO, helping manage schedules, priorities, and internal communications.
Help maintain an overview of firm operations, supporting the Partners with reporting, resource planning, and organizational visibility.
Manage and maintain Data SEA's internal Confluence knowledge space, ensuring documentation is organized, up to date, and accessible so the team can find what they need quickly.
Organize and lead team social events, fostering connection and a positive, high-energy work culture across the firm.
Act as the connective tissue across all teams—proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes, remove bottlenecks, and make everyone's work more effective.
Qualifications
Should Have
2–6 years of professional experience in a business operations, sales operations, business development, or executive support role.
A background in business (degree or equivalent experience in business administration, marketing, management, or a related field).
Exceptional organizational skills—you thrive on keeping multiple workstreams moving simultaneously without dropping the ball.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence to represent Data SEA externally at events and with prospective clients.
A self-starter mentality—you don't wait to be told what to do and take ownership of outcomes.
Experience coordinating events, managing vendor relationships, or running logistics for professional gatherings.
Comfort with sales processes including prospecting, outreach, CRM tools, and presentation preparation.
Familiarity with recruiting processes and a willingness to lead screening interviews.
A genuine passion for building culture and making the people around you more effective.
Nice to Have
Experience in a consulting, technology, or professional services environment.
Experience creating Power Point Slides
Experience working with and in Confluence
Exposure to the data analytics or AI industry.
Experience supporting executive leadership or founders in a high-growth startup or SMB.
Familiarity with Databricks, Power BI, or similar analytics platforms (you won't be building dashboards, but understanding the products helps).
Experience with co-op or university recruiting programs in Ontario.
WHY DATA SEA?
Be the first operations hire at a fast-growing consulting firm—you'll shape how we work from the ground up.
Work directly alongside and learn from the founding Partners and CTO.
Join a collaborative, tight-knit team of sharp consultants who care about doing great work.
Toronto-based office with a dynamic, in-person team culture.
