Co-op Associate - Fall Term (On-site)
Job Description
In this role, you will work with members of the Data SEA team to design, develop and deploy high-quality data solutions and data infrastructure that will drive value for our client’s business. This role is a full-time internship at our downtown Toronto location. The internship will run for 4 months from early September until late December.
Responsibilities will include
Directly engage with clients to lead the implementation of analytics solutions, ensuring a successful user experience.
Assist in the design and development of data architecture to optimize data flow, storage, and accessibility, meeting business needs and improving decision-making processes.
Construct robust Data Pipelines to efficiently transfer data from source systems to a centralized Data Lakehouse, utilizing best practices in Data Engineering and implementing a medallion architecture
Oversee the training, deployment, and monitoring of Machine Learning models, ensuring they provide accurate and timely predictions
Help in establishing and managing data governance policies to maintain data integrity, quality, and security, while ensuring compliance with data access and usage regulations
Create data visualizations and analyses by merging various data sets to present key insights through different reporting techniques
Dive into clients' data and develop strategic plans to maximize value for clients, balancing hands-on work with big-picture thinking
Innovate by prototyping new frameworks and technologies, enabling Data SEA to rapidly equip its clients with state-of-the-art infrastructure
Qualifications
Should Have
A background in computer science and/or relevant work experience in the field of Data Analytics, Data Engineering and/or Data Science
Ability to pick up new technologies with ease
A strong SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases
Experience with object-oriented & functional scripting languages such as Python
A history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets
A natural curiosity about how to improve systems and processes
A keen interest in learning about our clients' businesses and a passion for finding the right solutions
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience working with Power BI, Tableau, and/or Looker
Nice to Have
Experience with Databricks
Experience working on AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud infrastructure
Experience working in a Dev, UAT and Prod configuration when writing and deploying code
Experience in applying Data Engineering best practices to create robust data pipelines and implement a medallion architecture for efficient data storage and retrieval.
A solid understanding of Data Architecture best practices, including data modeling techniques, design principles for data warehousing and lakes, and strategies for data integration and lifecycle management to build robust and scalable data ecosystems.
Knowledge and experience in implementing Data Governance best practices, including developing and enforcing data policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security, while promoting compliant data usage and management.
Proficiency in Machine Learning best practices, including approaches to training, deploying, tuning, and monitoring Machine Learning models for optimal performance and accuracy.

By working on multiple engagements for clients in different industries, the Fall Co-op Association will gain invaluable hands-on experience.
